Three races on the turf today at hollywood. More and more European horses are finding the grass is greener on the west coast of the US. Today is no exception, some horses are being transferred within a world wide stable, or bought on behalf of American ownership in the sales.
BEST BET …… RACE 2 …… #3 Sulution.
First start for this UK import who ran on poly on his debut in the UK but produced a blistering turn of speed after been left out the back of the field. On lasix first time… Bishop of Derry also takes the eye
Giant Causway colt making his bow with the turmaster Niel Drysdale.
NEXT BEST …… RACE 7 ……6 CHALULA ONE.
Debut on the green stuff steady performer second in a 200k last time out.If it looks like a Deere, Runs like a Deere then it is probaly a souped up thoroughbred lawnmower a cut above the rest. Will
muclch the opposition who wont make the cut.
RACE 9 …… 6 VISIT.
43rd Running of the mile and eigth Gamely G1 on the sod.Frankel has a double hand believe it or not this ex SIr Michael Stoute is the outsider of the two a morning line of 8/1. Has promised so much just ouzes class, took him upto Churchill on Derby day went of fav had an unlucky run. should have them stretched out
today the defining factor Juddmonte farms representative they love this stage.
H.W.
Picks for Saturday May 30th.
BEST BET: Churchill Race 7: # 7 PRETTY PROLIFIC (ML 5/2). Showed great promise early last year but got derailed when tried to go long. Sire Lion Heart is pretty much looking like a sprint sire so she may appreciate the switch back to six furlongs. Has fired three bullets in a row in preparation.
NEXT BEST: Churchill Race 1: # 7 FIERCE LOOK (ML 5/2). Did not show much in her debut at Arlington but takes a drop in class and gets lasix for high percentage Catalano barn.
VALUE BET: Churchill Race 6: # 8 ALL TAPPED IN (20/1). Finished last of four last time when he made a poor start in an off the turf event. Should get to run on the grass this time and is well bred for it. Had a sharp work a week ago.

SATURDAY SELECTIONS FROM CALDER- BRONCOBUSTER
Best Bet- Race 4 #4 NOTICE ME NOW, M/L 3-1. Dropped in for a dime back at Gulfstream back in January and attracted a claim that day. Since then he’s raced strictly in the Starter Allowance ranks with limited success. Will relish todays drop back to straight claimers and the tag of 12,500 is only a fraction higher than the price he was claimed for. Beyers match up and his record at Calder is decent with 4 scores from 7 starts. Expect this one to get a fair amount of attention at the windows and produce a trip to the winners circle.
Next Best- Race 7 #1 ELLE CASHAREAU, M/L 6-1. All systems appear to be on go for this daughter of Eltish after a useful sprint on the turf, which she used as a springboard for todays stretch out. That sprint effort came off a 2 month respite and the result shows that the vacation may have done her a lot of good. After getting that last start out of the way, she should move forward in a big way with a rail draw in her favor. She has shown in the past off the layoff that she can produce for a short time, so todays race may be very significant for her and the she should fit todays classification 25K N3L as well as any in here.
Value Bet- Race 6 #6 CHAMPAGNE SUNRISE, M/L 8-1. Gets reclassified back to nickel claimers, after finding open 6,250 claimers too tough last out at Tampa. Will need to rebound from that miserable effort, but gets some changes that are rather significant in todays tilt. Those changes include a drop back to 5,000 claimers which should get hercompetitive juices flowing and she gets a significant weight reduction with apprentice Campos taking over. Her overall record at todays distance is very attractive with 8 in the money finishes from 13 starts, including 5 wins! If you can look past her last dismal effort, this one may surprise at a square price today. May offer enough value for a nice across the board play.

Bonjour! Saturday at Mountaineer…
Best Bet: Mountaineer Race 4 WIN #4 My Girl Elizabeth (8/5 ML). This
6YO Kentucky-bred mare should be able to win this one. All horses
carry equal weight at 121 pounds in this 1 Mile claimer. #1 Sarah Jane
(9/5 ML) seems to be the only other contender with a chance of
winning, but expect to see My Girl Elizabeth in the winner’s circle.
Next Best: Mountaineer Race 6 WIN #6 Hidden Queens (3/1 ML). This race
might offer more value and Hidden Queens could be a solid wager. Let’s
look at some of the other entries first. #5 Signal’s Trick (5/2 ML) is
full of red flags, this mare hasn’t raced since last September! She
does hold some comparable speed figures and could return with a kick,
but I wouldn’t bet on it. The morning line favorite #7 Mancini’s Song
(9/5 ML) is a first time starter and her pedigree doesn’t bode well
for her first time start either. She does have a top jockey and could
be a factor, but once again, I wouldn’t bet on it. #6 Hidden Queens
(3/1 ML) comes in with the highest speed rating from her last start at
6 furlongs and she should like the 5 ½ furlong distance today. She is
carrying low weight at 113 pounds along with the #7 horse while the
rest of the field carries 121 pounds. As the third choice on the
morning line, she could return a nice price. Keep an eye on late odds
and look out for her at the wire.
Value Bet: Mountaineer Race 7 EXACTA BOX #3 Samurai Prince (5/2 ML)
with #2 Connoisseur (3/1 ML). These two geldings stand out in this 5 ½
furlong claimer and should cross the wire 1-2. #4 Winabull (4/1 ML)
could disrupt this play, but these two should get the job done.
Bonne Chance! Monsieur Chanceux Contois
Welcome to a Saturday night edition of the Jersey Joe harness blog. I’m glad you can join me here at Racing 2 Day, where 3 times a week I delve into the Standardbred action and provide analysis for our R2D community.
Tonight we head over to the backyard and visit our home track, The Meadowlands Racetrack, in northern NJ. The feature tonight is the $200,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Championship for 3 year old fillies. It’s a competitive final that goes as Race 7. The favorites are drawn outside and should make for a great betting event. Look for the rail horse, Showherthemoney, to sit the trip make some noise late in the exotics.
Good luck tonight!

Best Bet
Race 10
#7 Southwestern Dream
Right back to the winner’s circle in latest after a tough beat two back. Draws the outside tonight but it’s a short field and Campbell will leave. Quick fractions and all, I believe this pacer gets the job done easily against these. He’s that good.
Next Best Bet
Race 8
#5 Anvilanunoit
This pacer has been money for Banca since the claim two back. Faces similar and no reason to believe he doesn’t best these. Love the draw as well for Brennan.
Value Bet
Race 3
#4 Test Flight
Get the feeling the public may cool on this one tonight after disappointing in previous pair. Let’s see Morrill have a bit more luck than Sears did. Win candidate at great odds in here.

Aaaah, Saturday at last. I swear I’ve had that Loverboy song, “Workin’ for the Weekend” in my head this whole rugged week. That and “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. I think I’ll head over to Keeneland with my dear ol’ Dad for an afternoon of simulcasting, relaxing and cashing lots of tickets! Still in a New York state of mind, so here are some Belmont picks for you.
Your BEST BET is 1 WILD ENTRY in RACE 10 (2-1 ML). Wild Entry loves the grass and this distance and has finished 2nd in all 3 starts. Trainer is on fire this meet and Go Go takes the call. Coupled with Grassy, who is a first-timer, but has the pedigree to live up to his name. Nice work tab. Barn is 18% with first time turfs and 16% with debutants. This is one nice 2fer bet – even if one of them doesn’t run. Either has a good shot.
Your NEXT BEST BET is 2 DISCREET TREASURE in RACE 4 (2-1 ML). Now I have long been a fan of Cool Coal Man, but I’m going to have to go with Discreet Treasure in this one. Closer is coming off a close second in a G3 and a career best Beyer. Likes Belmont and should catch them all at the end.
Your VALUE BET is 10 KRISTI WITH A K in RACE 8 (8-1 ML). Filly is 2 for 2 at Belmont and finished in the money in all three starts at this distance. It’s a bit of a step up for her and the outside post will be tough, but she still has a shot. Barn is doing very well this meet and pilot Dominguez is dangerous on the lawn.

Hollywood Park
Saturday
Best Bet: Race 7 #8 MINUTE LIMIT will maker her debut for Team Valor in here under the care of John Sadler. Barry Irwin’s outfit rarely misses, and the three-year-old is not facing the deepest field ever put together at Hollywood.
Second Best Bet: Race 5 #4 ROMAN COUNSEL was one we had an eye in his debut, when he finished a close second for Harrington. Although this field is strong, we expect this one to graduate.
Value Play: Race 2 #7 GREAT RAID has endured a pair of sprint races with limited success, and now the Michael Machowsky trainee will get his coveted two turns in this one. There isn’t much in this field and it seems perfect for a big-priced winner.
el Secreto
This Churchill meet has been a media paradise, all the on track stories, all the off track news indicating the sport is making its way back into prime time. The best storyline for me is the success the jocks are having, Borel is on a tear in wins and money, Leparoux is trying to make this piece of real estate a parisian field of dreams. Then this young Santiago Reyes hitting 16% and getting all the mounts he wants with a 7 pound claim.
Lets see what the horses say.
BEST BET …… RACE 4 …… #3 NICKS GIRL.
She came up from the south and dominated her last race here, drops back a furlong. Consistant sort will probaly be the chalk but hey a winner is a winner in anybody’s books.
NEXT BEST …… RACE 10 …… #3 Skipdale.
Asmussen has a double hand in this race on the turf his kinda of odds. Cannot take my eyes and ears off the selection. Mark Casse the Canadian conditioner is fast becoming the Mike De Kock of the Americas. This guy ouzes class ran in the BC Juvenile Turf and 4 other group races in his short carear. Will have to grind
out the finish today but the odds will be in the players favour.
VALUE BET …… RACE 8 …… #6 Q THE MUSIC.
Interesting Jock assignments in this race. Leparoux who is on fire, won on the selection last time out here on the 17th in a 7500 claimer . Switches to a Michael Maker ride who is having a great meet. Ran down the field in a a 16k claimer at Keeneland. However Q The Music has the services of hot apprentice Santiago
Reyes, carrys 111 pound in this 15k claimer. Here is the question can 7 pounds cover the rise in the claiming class? I think so… if correct I will contact Leparoux to offer my services as hisnew agent. H.W.
Best Bet: Monmouth Race 8: # 1 GOLDEN ARTEMIS (ML 5/2). Breaks from the rail and
should be able to control the race on the front end. Will appreciate the return
to the dirt after a facind finish on the turf at Belmont.
Next Best: Churchill Race 10. #PRESENTS FOR BERTI (ML 3/1). Ran well in his
first start of the year when second to the year older Seaspeak who went on to
win the Dallas Turf Cup (G3) in his next start. Should find this field of his
own age easier and red hot Borel stays.
Value Bet: Churchill Race 6: #7 WILD EDGE (ML 30/1). Low profile barn has won
two maidens already this meet. Gelding, who is out of a stakes placed mare and a
half brother to ten winners, including one stakes winner ran respectively in his
debut and would not have to improve much to be in the money here.
Considering his Belmont mounts are still up in the air and he has a good shot at the title of first jockey to win the Triple Crown on different horses, Calvin Borel sure doesn’t seem to be too worried about it. That man has been on a crazy hot streak at Churchill Downs. But today I think I’ll wander northward and dip my toe in the Belmont waters to try to get in the NY groove before the big race next week. Happy Friday!
Your BEST BET is 5 DRESSED TO WIN in RACE 7 (5-2 ML). Gray lady is proven on the Belmont grass and at this distance. Running for an outfit that is on fire this meet. Likes this company and gets shades today. Winning pilot Lezcano stays on board.
Your NEXT BEST BET is 5 BUY A PERSONALITY in RACE 1 (7-2 ML). Colt ran his best at this track last year and should be rested from the short layoff. Winning jockey/trainer team.
Your VALUE BET is 2 CART’S DREAM in RACE 6 (8-1 ML). Filly showed some speed in her debut in the slop and works have been consistent, if not spectacular. The slight class drop is good and the addition of blinkers might help her focus today.
